Saving the small things that run the planet
Part of the national Urban Buzz project, Urban Buzz Leeds created or enhanced 38 hectares of pollinator habitat across 112 ‘Buzzing Hotspots’ in the city. Thanks to the efforts of over 1,300 volunteers, wildflower-rich grasslands were created or enhanced, bug-friendly gardens planted and nesting habitat created across high profile locations such as Gotts Park, University of Leeds and Rothwell Country Park. Partners including Leeds City Council, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, members of the Parks and Green Spaces Forum and the University of Leeds all worked together to bring colour and wildlife backs to the city’s parks and open spaces.
