Bumblebee Identification and Monitoring Workshop with Buglife Cymru (Gweithdy Adnabod a Monitro Cacwn)

Friday 19th May, 2023 - 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Conservation Centre, Forest Farm Road, Cardiff, CF14 7JJ

Spring is an excellent time to see queen bumblebees, many of which have recently emerged from hibernation and are starting to establish their nests. Join Liam Olds, Conservation Officer at Buglife Cymru, at Forest Farm Country Park as we look for bumblebees and discuss their identification and ecology. A guided walk around Forest Farm will allow you to see different bumblebee species and get familiar with their identification features. This workshop will also discuss how to record and monitor bumblebees, including submitting records to your Local Environmental Record Centre and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust’s BeeWalk monitoring scheme.

This event is being delivered as part of Cardiff Council’s ‘No Net Loss’ project, funded by Network Rail.

Mae’r gwanwyn yn amser gwych i weld breninesau cacwn, y mae llawer ohonynt wedi codi o’u gaeafgwsg yn ddiweddar ac yn cychwyn creu eu nythod. Ymunwch â Liam Olds, Swyddog Cadwraeth gyda Buglife Cymru, ym Mharc Gwledig Fferm y Fforest wrth inni chwilio am gacwn a thrafod sut i’w hadnabod a’u hecoleg. Bydd taith dywysedig o amgylch Fferm y Fforest yn caniatáu i chi weld gwahanol rywogaethau o gacwn ac ymgyfarwyddo gyda’r nodweddion inni eu hadnabod. Bydd y gweithdy hwn hefyd yn trafod sut i gofnodi a monitro cacwn, yn cynnwys cyflwyno cofnodion i’ch Canolfan Cofnodion Amgylcheddol Lleol a chynllun monitro taith gerdded BeeWalk yr Ymddiriedolaeth Cadwraeth Cacwn.

Trosglwyddir y digwyddiad hwn fel rhan o brosiect ‘Dim Gwir Golled’ Cyngor Caerdydd, a ariennir gan Network Rail.
