During 2022 Buglife shared some fantastic positive news stories linked to a variety of projects around the UK including:

  • The discovery of new populations of one of the UK’s most-threatened bumblebees the Brown-banded Carder Bee (Bombus humilis) at Prawle Point on the South Devon coast as part of Life on the Edge.
  • Two new populations of one of Britian’s rarest beetles, the Blue Ground Beetle (Carabus intricatus) were found at two new sites on Dartmoor and a third site in Cornwall was discovered to be much larger than we originally thought aspart of the Dartmoor Blue Ground Beetle Project
  • The discovery of two new populations of one of Cornwall’s most threatened bee species, the Large Scabious Mining Bee (Andrena hattorfiana)and a second nationally scarce species of bee, the Red Bartsia Bee (Melitta tricincta), were also been recorded in Cornwall for the first time in almost 20 years as part of North Cornwall B-Lines
  • Following the success of the ongoing Save Swanscombe Peninsula Campaign one of the UK’s rarest bumblebees, the Shrill Carder Bee (Bombus sylvarum) was also found for the first time on the Peninsula in Kent.

Without your continued support Buglife will not be able to build on these achievements.
