Moor Invertebrates Trail at National Trust Parke
Hunt down five hidden stamp boxes at National Trust Parke and meet some of Dartmoor’s rarest residents along the way.
Can you find all five hidden stamps? Somewhere around National Trust Parke, five geocaches are waiting to be discovered. Track them down, stamp your worksheet, and discover the fascinating (and very rare) invertebrates living on Dartmoor.
How it works
- Download the OS Maps or What3Words app, to search for the codes to find the grid reference for each letterbox.
- Track down the boxes by following the references to find all the locations around Parke.
- Stamp your worksheet! Each box contains information about a rare invertebrate that lives in the area, along with a QR code, and a unique stamp and ink pad. Collect all five to complete the trail.

These species are all included in Buglife’s Moor Invertebrates project which aims to secure the future of eight threatened invertebrate species within Dartmoor National Park
Why search for them at Parke?
The five species don’t live in National Trust Parke, but their boxes are hidden in habitats similar to the ones each species calls home.
The benefit of placing the geocache boxes at Parke, is that it makes a brilliant and accessible base for the trail, while learning more about the local wildlife that needs our help. We are grateful to National Trust Parke for letting us use their beautiful site.
