Outer Hebrides Wildlife Festival 20 – 27 June

Multiple locations across the Outer Hebridean Islands

Kicking off on 20 June 2026, this week-long, community-led festival gathers together to celebrate the wonderful and rare wildlife of the Outer Hebrides – and everyone is welcome to come along!

The Outer Hebrides Wildlife Festival runs every year, and is coordinated by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust as part of the Species on the Edge conservation programme.

A variety of daytime and evening events are running across the Outer Hebridean Islands of: Lewis, Harris & Scalpay, Berneray, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Barra, Vatersay & Eriskay.

This includes:

  • Art exhibitions
  • Community beach cleans
  • Art and craft workshops, such as the ‘Make your own bumblebee and insect drinking dish pottery workshop’
  • Wildlife identification and survey workshops
  • Evening wildlife walks
  • Poetry, music and storytelling sessions
  • Film screenings
  • Nature-connecting yoga classes
  • Boat tours
  • And even a ‘Thank the Bees for our G&Ts’ North Uist Distillery gin tasting

About Species on the Edge…

Species on the Edge is a multi-partner nature conservation programme of eight conservation organisations, which includes the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Buglife. The programme work with communities across Scotland’s coasts and islands to save our rarest and most vulnerable species from extinction. Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
