Tuesday 18th February, 2025 - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Online

Join RSPB for Hope Farm webinars on herbal leys and wildflower management to benefit farming and wildlife – as part of their 25th Anniversary Celebrations!

In this session, the panel will discuss the practicalities of where and how wildflowers can deliver the most on farm, making the biggest difference for farmland wildlife including beneficials, and sustainable food production. You’ll hear from farmers and their experiences with managing flowers on their farm, from advisors specialising in pollinators and insects, on how to look after pollinators on farm, and from research about the nuts and bolts behind what wildflowers can do for crop husbandry.

The Hope farm team will share lessons learnt at hope farm on wildflower margin management on our clay soils.

Panellists:

  • John Secker, a farmer who has delivered some incredible wildlife habitats on his farm in the Brecks with his cultivated arable margins on chalky land.
  • Rachel Richards, an ecologist, naturalist and B-Lines Officer at Buglife will be talking about how to provide not just food for pollinators in the form of flower-rich habitats but also share knowledge on what pollinators need to thrive throughout their whole life cycle, from shelter to nesting habitats and food provision.
