We are sad to say that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Festival of Insects on Saturday 27th June, due to this week’s extreme heat. This is really disappointing for everyone involved, but the safety of our visitors and volunteers is our priority. We hope to be able to bring elements of what we had planned into other activities over the coming months.
Come along for a free, fun-filled afternoon for all ages at Canvey Wick!
There’ll be plenty to get stuck into, including:

- 🦋 Butterfly surveys
- 🎨 Arts and crafts
- 🍃 Nature trails, and more.
It’s a drop-in event, but booking a free spot helps us get an idea of numbers.
Good to know:
Parking at the Canvey Wick reserve car park is limited, but you can park along Northwick Road (just be mindful of local residents). There’s also parking available across the road if you’re visiting Morrisons.
Canvey Wick doesn’t have much shade, so it’s a good idea to bring sun hats, sunscreen, and plenty of water. If you’re planning to join the bug hunt, make sure to wear closed-toe shoes.
There will be a photographer and filmmaker at the event capturing the day. If you’d prefer not to be included in any photos or filming, just let one of the organisers know when you arrive.
