Peatland Conservation Officer, Scotland

Full time Fixed Term Contract (2 years) Based in Stirling Salary £26,710

Buglife is the only organisation in Europe devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates. We're actively working to save Britain’s rarest little animals, everything from bees to beetles, worms to woodlice and jumping spiders to jellyfish.

This new position will help Buglife to conserve and raise awareness of the importance of peatlands and the invertebrates they support in Scotland; with a strong focus in the Falkirk area. The successful candidate will oversee a programme of restoration, working with landowners and contractors, on several peat bogs in Falkirk, making them better for wildlife. The officer will also promote the role of peatlands in maintaining healthy environments, the issues that affect them and how these sites can be better managed to protect against the impacts of climate change, such as flooding.

The successful candidate must have experience of working with contractors to restore peatlands, will need to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this habitat, the invertebrates that call them home and the issues affecting them.
