Introduction to lacewings and their relatives training workshop

Lacewings are fascinating insects that are very under recorded. Of the 70 UK species, 40 of them have been recorded in Scotland. This introductory workshop will introduce lacewings and their relatives (snakeflies, scorpionflies and alderflies). A morning session will provide information on the different families of lacewings, how to survey for these elusive insects and recording your findings.

In the afternoon we will go for a walk around Holyrood Park to look for the very rare Bordered brown lacewing, only found here and at one other site in Scotland.

Please wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear and bring a pack lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Location: Holyrood Park Education Centre, Historic Environment Scotland, Queen's Dr, Edinburgh EH8 8HG.
