The ecology and conservation of butterflies and moths

Butterfly Conservation's Eighth International Symposium will be held at Southampton University, from the 6th to 8th April 2018 on the theme: 'The ecology and conservation of butterflies and moths'

 

The Symposium will include the latest science on the ecology of butterflies and moths, and how to conserve them and their habitats in a changing world. The Symposium will end with a forward look at future challenges, including the impact of climate change. Details will be posted and updated on the BC website as they develop.

 

Guest speakers include Dr Martin Warren, recently retired Chief Executive of Butterfly Conservation (UK) whose talk will celebrate the 50 year history of Butterfly Conservation and Dr Scott Hoffman Black, Executive Director of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation (USA) and Chair of the IUCN Butterfly Specialist Group who will discuss the status of common and widespread species in the USA. Other keynote speakers include Prof.  Jane Hill (York Univ, UK), and Richard Fox (Butterfly Conservation, UK).

 

The proceedings will be published as a special issue of the Journal of Insect Conservation.
