Bog sun-jumper hunt

Bog sun-jumper hunt at Wester Moss, Fallin, near Stirling

Friday 21st July.  10am – 3pm

Join staff from Buglife, Butterfly Conservation Scotland and the Inner Forth Landscape Initiative for a fun day looking for the rare Bog sun-jumper spider (Heliophanus dampfi) at Butterfly Conservation’s Wester Moss reserve (http://butterfly-conservation.org/311-1955/wester-moss-stirling.html), Fallin, near Stirling.

These cute wee jumping spiders are only known from a few lowland raised bogs around Stirling and a single site in Wales. We’ll be checking how widespread the species is at Wester Moss, and recording other wildlife  too, including the Large Heath butterfly (Coenonmypha tullia), which will hopefuly still be flying.

Bring a packed lunch, suitable clothing and sturdy waterproof boots

Meet at the Fallin mining museum carpark, FK7 7JH at 10am.
