Important Invertebrate Areas Map

The Important Invertebrate Map identifies the UK’s nationally and internationally significant areas for the conservation of invertebrates and the habitats upon which they rely. The network has been identified using over 45 million invertebrate records from 80 different recording schemes and the advice of experts across the UK. Over the coming months, profiles for each of the Important Invertebrate Areas (IIA) will be produced to provide information on their value for invertebrates.

Working closely with local experts, fine-scale maps will be created over time to identify the key areas and sites for invertebrate conservation within each IIA. These maps will be a valuable tool to inspire, inform and deliver real change on the ground for our most scarce and threatened invertebrates.

Putting Bugs on the Map is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
