Don your headtorches and warm coats as we head out into the November night in search of the elusive Mediterranean Oil Beetle. (No. We are not expecting a Paul McCartney cameo).
Join the Life on the Edge Project for an exciting opportunity to develop your wildlife ID skills and contribute towards the important conservation work occurring in one of our hotspot areas. This event is open to everyone interested in securing a better future for Devon’s wildlife; ideally you will have attended our introduction webinar on Wednesday 20th November to learn about the fascinating lifecycles, behaviour, and ecology of British Oil Beetles.
Due to the nocturnal nature of Mediterranean Oil Beetle, we will be meeting at Start Point car park at 19:30pm. We will then follow the coast path down to Great Mattiscombe Beach before returning to the car park.
Know before you go:
- You will need to bring your own headtorch.
- Warm, weather-appropriate clothing is a must!
- Hot drinks provided at the car park, but feel free to bring your own refreshments too.
- Walking along uneven coastal path, so sturdy footwear is advisable.
- Sorry, no dogs allowed this time!
Booking is required. Email [email protected] to book your place.
Life on the Edge is an exciting Buglife partnership project that aims to restore viable populations of some of the UK’s rarest invertebrates and plants living along the South Devon coast between Berry Head and Wembury, including the last known colony of the Six-banded Nomad Bee (Nomada sexfasciata).
