Crayfish in Scotland - Lead Organisations: University of Glasgow & Clyde River Foundation

This programme of research focuses primarily on the invasive North American signal crayfish in Scotland, although the two populations of White-clawed crayfish are also of interest. The aims are to assess the status of this species in Scotland, to investigate the impact it has on native biodiversity (including species of high conservation or economic value e.g. salmon, freshwater pearl mussels, lamprey) and to help identify practical measures that might be taken to control this invader.
