About Buglife in Scotland
In early 2007 Buglife began work on a 2-year part time project, funded by Scottish Natural Heritage, to develop a strategy for the conservation of Scotland’s invertebrates.
A wide range of individuals and organisations contributed to the development of the strategy, and the project was guided by a steering group which included representatives of stakeholder organisations such as Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Butterfly Conservation, Buglife, SNH and the Initiative for Scottish Invertebrates.
The final strategy represented the views of over 100 leading conservation experts in Scotland, and has ensured that action in Scotland will be cost effective and have the maximum conservation benefit. It has been instrumental in successfully bringing people together for a common purpose.
Two years on and Buglife Scotland has a full time conservation officer as well as a part time post in order to deliver targeted invertebrate conservation activity in Scotland.
