Volunteer Vacancies
| Reception Assistant Buglife is seeking a confident and friendly person to be a volunteer Reception Assistant. You will be a first point of contact for callers and visitors. Your role will include: -Answering the telephone, dealing with routine enquiries and putting calls through to staff -Welcoming visitors and making refreshments -Filing and general tidying -General desk-based office administration such as recycling envelopes, checking stationery stocks, envelope-stuffing etc. You will also assist with membership administration duties as required. |
Who will this role suit?
We are seeking someone who is confident taking and making telephone calls. Following training you must also be able to put calls through to staff. You must be able to take accurate telephone messages. You must be friendly and helpful both on the telephone and face to face.
You must be committed and reliable, and able to use your own initiative. You will need to have a good standard of numeracy, and excellent English language skills – both verbal and written.
This post would be an ideal opportunity for someone seeking reception experience, or someone with an office-based background and the desire to get involved in conservation.
| Membership Assistant Our members are extremely important to us and you will help us to provide an excellent level of service to them. We are seeking a committed and reliable person to be a volunteer Membership Assistant. Your role will include: -Making up packs for new members and those renewing their membership of Buglife -Envelope-stuffing for mailings -Recording membership subscriptions received on our database -Sending out membership leaflets to enquirers and other organisations -Assisting with other membership tasks as required You will also assist with general Buglife administration duties as required. The role will be supervised by Buglife’s Outreach Officer. |
Who will this role suit?
You will need to have a good standard of numeracy, and excellent English language skills – both verbal and written. You must also be very accurate in data-inputting and able to make up packs to the exact specifications set out. You will need to be well-organised, efficient and able to use your own initiative. We are seeking someone familiar with IT – using Word, the Internet, and ideally databases.
This post would be an ideal opportunity for someone seeking office or charity administration experience, or someone with an office-based background and the desire to get involved in conservation.
| Fundraising Assistant Buglife is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic volunteer Fundraising Assistant. You will help to raise valuable funds for Buglife’s conservation work. Your role will include: -Researching potential sources of funding (trusts, companies and individuals) and adding details about these to a database -Fundraising administration – e.g. photocopying and envelope-stuffing -Drafting letters of appeal and applications for funding -Helping to organise events You will also assist with membership administration duties and general office administration as required. |
Who will this role suit?
We are seeking someone familiar with IT – using Word, Excel and the Internet. You should also have some experience of research. You must be committed, reliable and able to motivate yourself. You will need to have a good standard of numeracy, and excellent English language skills – both verbal and written. You must be able to be highly accurate in written communication and data-inputting.
This post would be an ideal opportunity for someone seeking experience in charity fundraising, or with past experience of fundraising and the desire to get involved in conservation.
| All volunteer posts -You should be available for a minimum of one half-day per week in office hours (9am-5pm) -Although these are unpaid positions, expenses that you incur while volunteering with Buglife will be reimbursed (e.g. reasonable travel expenses) - Please be aware that Buglife's offices are located on the first floor up one flight of stairs and may not be accessible for those with mobility problems -All volunteers are provided with training and supervision. Volunteering with Buglife is a great way to build skills and experience as well as contributing to very important conservation work |
