Ponds and lakes are important wildlife habitats providing homes to many common and rare species of invertebrates, including the rare Tadpole shrimp which lives in ponds. Currently, we know very little about the ponds and lakes that are found across the UK and we need your help to explore these important habitats.
Anyone can take part in the survey by identifying a variety of amazing bugs, such as water beetles and pond skaters. Participants will also be asked to carry out some simple tests of water pH and water clarity.

The results of the water survey will contribute to an England and Wales database to assess water quality, allowing better understanding of ponds and lakes and the animals that live in them.
