Big Bumblebee Hunt underway - and we need your help!
The first-ever bumblebee survey for London, Essex and the Thames Gateway has been launched to get local residents out and about to count bumblebees in their neighbourhood.
The Big Bumblebee Hunt was launched at the Thames Barrier Park in London on 19 June by Baroness Sue Miller, followed by a second launch at Wat Tyler Country Park in south Essex on 23 June. This exciting new survey - running throughout July and August - is getting local residents out and about to count bumblebees in their neighbourhood, and to help us map the bumblebees for this region. This will help us to direct better conservation efforts to save them. To take part in the survey click on the logo. Buglife hopes to hold a national Big Bumblebee Hunt in 2008/09. The Big Bumblebee Hunt has been supported by Countdown 2010/Natural England, City Bridge Trust, and the Cory Environmental Trust for Britain.
