Bug photo wins national photography award
A beautiful photograph of a damselfly silhouette has won the first ever British Wildlife Photography Awards
The British Wildlife Photography Awards were created to celebrate the talents of both amateur and professional photographers, while simultaneously highlighting the great wealth and diversity of British natural history.
Buglife sponsored the 'Hidden Britain' category of the competition and we are very pleased to say that the category winner - Ross Hoddinott - also won the overall competition with his beautiful photograph of a damselfly in silhouette.

Nick Baker - TV wildlife presenter and Buglife's Vice-president, presented the awards. He said, "Isn't it great and refreshing that a picture of an insect has won a national photography award? We tend to go for animals that we can relate to but insects and other bugs are works of art, and if you're after interesting subject matter - bugs are it!"
